What is the goal of Model Project LA?
The purpose of this website is to attract potential models who are interested in collaborating with photographer Brad Posey in creating high-quality portraiture, lifestyle imagery, and fine art photography. For the models, this is an excellent way to build or update a professional modeling portfolio for free.
Where will the final images be used?
Images from these creative sessions may be featured in the PHOTOS section of this website and social media websites such as Instagram. They may also be archived for future fine art publications, print portfolios, fine art prints, or gallery exhibitions. Models typically use their best photos from these sessions in their personal portfolios and on social media.
Do I need professional modeling experience to apply?
Prior modeling experience is welcome but not required. Brad is looking for individuals who have a compelling look, a photogenic presence, and—most importantly—the ability to take direction well, focus intensely, and collaborate comfortably in front of the camera.
What "look" or type of model are you seeking?
Brad is seeking models who have an expressive, photogenic face, naturally slim or semi-athletic build, youthful appearance (18-25), who fit well into the general "look" established in his portfolio.
How long does a typical shoot take?
How long a shoot takes depends upon too many variables to give a specific time range here. The goals for one shoot may differ completely from another. Certain models have a natural ease on camera, while others require significantly more directing — some models work faster than others. Some shoots require travel between locations, or require waiting for a particular time of day with the best lighting, etc. Once we decide on our goals for a photo shoot, we can usually determine a rough timeframe for the shoot.
Can I bring a friend, partner, or companion to the shoot?
This is discouraged, unless the friend/partner is also modeling with us that day or is contributing to the shoot with hair/makeup, wardrobe or styling. Creative photography requires absolute concentration and a strong, uninterrupted dynamic between the photographer and the subject.
Participation & Portfolio Services. How does the creative collaboration work?
Independent creative projects typically operate on a TFP (Time for Print/Photos) basis. While there is no monetary compensation, selected models receive a curated selection of high-resolution, professionally edited digital images to build or enhance their own portfolios. Brad's professional photographs have helped many models get signed to top agencies over the years.
Is this just a one-time opportunity?
Definitely not, if you prove yourself to be a strong model whose creative collaboration aligns well with Brad Posey's vision. Brad's favorite models tend to work with him over many sessions.
Will I need to sign a contract/Model Release form?
Yes. To protect both parties and ensure complete clarity regarding usage, a standard Model Release is required prior to any camera work.
How do I apply for casting consideration?
Please navigate to the MODEL APPLICATION page and fill out the brief application form. Be sure to include a few recent, clear photos (simple, current phone snapshots in good lighting work perfectly) and indicate what types of images you're hoping to get out of the collaboration. If you are not approved to work with Brad Posey, he generally does not explain why he declined the application.
Can I hire Brad Posey to shoot a custom modeling portfolio for me?
Yes. If you are looking to build a high-quality, professional modeling portfolio from scratch or need to update your current book with exceptional imagery, you can commission a private, dedicated portfolio session. These are fully customized paid sessions tailored to your specific market goals. To inquire about availability and rates, please use the form on the Contact page and describe your photographic needs.
